Hi, I’m Maria.

Over the past 15 years, my creative path has taken me from being a Beauty Editor and Makeup Artist to becoming a self-taught Fine Artist. For over a decade, I thrived in the city’s makeup industry, with my work appearing in renowned publications such as Marie Claire, Elle, Vogue, and DEKAT.

Seeking a change of pace and perspective, I moved to the countryside to focus on fine art.

My fascination with faces, cultivated during my makeup career, continues to influence my work. Makeup taught me to enhance beauty, but it also revealed the unique stories behind every face. My guiding principle, "It's called concealer, not conceal her," shaped how I approached makeup and now inspires my exploration of imperfection and authenticity in art.

It’s been wonderful having my work exhibited all over South Africa and to have been selected for the Rust & Vrede Top 100 Portrait Awards in 2023 as well as Top 100 for the SASOL New Signatures art competition in 2024.
